Alterego Ceilidh Band
The Band
Alterego are a professional East Yorkshire based family band who are available for hire at folk festivals, wedding receptions, parties, fund-raisers, and corporate events. A talented trio of musicians, who have been performing together for over 20 years. We have an extensive repertoire of music and songs from all across the United Kingdom and beyond, including Scottish, Irish, English Folk, Country and traditional music to name but a few. So whether you want an evening of traditional tunes and a Ceilidh or a night of energetic Jigs/Reels and songs (e.g. St Patricks night) we can create the right atmosphere for your event. We can provide a friendly, experienced and clear caller for a Ceilidh who will explain each dance step by step if required.
As well as taking bookings for weddings, parties, barn dances and charity events Alterego also performs at Folk Clubs, Festivals and concerts particularly in the north of England, but have been known to travel further afield to far flung places such as Dulverton, Spratton, Amsterdam, Ireland, Isle of Wight and beyond.

A huge well done to Natasha Nelson and Mythical Madness for finishing 3rd in the McMillan Charity Race at York Races on Friday 24th September 2021. Natasha raised over £4000 for McMillan and it was our pleasure to sponsor Natasha for this very worthy cause.
We have been enjoying getting out and about following the easing of restrictions. We have had some successful private gigs and a festival this year.

...I do not think we can thank Moira Furnace Festival and the staff, organisers and volunteers enough. Too many highlights. Sweet sets from Winter Wilson, a superb skiffle session from Alterego (quite superb), great sound from Graham and James as always, and kindness abounding. Really smashing, Loved it.

...Just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you very much for the Ceilidh last weekend. It was very well received and we almost did not spot the lack of partner swapping.

...I just wanted to say a massive thank you for performing at our wedding, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! I've heard nothing but praise for your performance so, again, thank you. I'm sorry I didn't see you before you'd headed off but I got a bit carried away with 'mingling' :)...

Following the success of this year's event, we are planning a Burns Night with Supper and Ceilidh ....We would like Alterego to entertain us again, if you are available. I look forward to hearing from you.

just want to thank you and your band members again. We thoroughly enjoyed the dancing, and had so many guests tell me they had a great time too with the dancing. I have to admit, the Disco did not get anywhere near the same number on the dance floor as you did, and most people drifted away by 11.30!

A big thank you to you and the rest of the band for such a great session on Saturday night at Whixley Village Hall. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the feedback from our friends has been amazing - I think there was only 1 person who couldn't dance due to health reasons!

Just in haste as we still have visitors, but thanks you so much for being so fantastic on Saturday night. We LOVED the ceilidh. It was brilliant!
